Addicted to Sheep – #addictedtosheep

Set in the North Pennines, Addicted to Sheep is an intimate portrait of a year in the life of tenant hill farmers Tom and Kay Hutchinson as they try to breed the perfect sheep.

Through the rain, shine, sleet and snow we see them toil away against the stunning landscapes of North East England and witness the hard work it takes just to survive. Their three children are growing up close to the land, attending a school entirely comprised of farmers’ children, thoroughly immersed in their remote rural world. While the odds often seem stacked against them, the film conveys the importance of a balanced family life and the good humour that binds this tight knit community together.

Beautifully observed, this heartwarming film provides an insight into the past, present and future of a way of life far removed from the high-tech … Read More »

As you may already know we are now in post-production with our first independent documentary film Addicted to Sheep. We are nearly there! If you would like to be part of our journey and learn a little bit about our thought processing behind the making of the film, please read our weekly blogs ‘Tales from the Edit’. Every week, you will learn more about filmmaking and the work that goes into making an 80- minute documentary. Amongst some of the great things we have been doing, we have worked with Chris Watson, one of the world’s leading recorders of wildlife and natural phenomena and James Burrell, a London based composer, songwriter and music producer, specialising in children’s television, feature documentary films and the development of recording artists. Addicted to Sheep Crowdfunding Campaign

Posted on April 23rd, by admin in Our blogs. No Comments

We set out to raise £7K to complete our first indie feature-length documentary, Addicted to Sheep 2 weeks ago. With a three week campaign in mind, all from our own website to minimise admin fees, it’s been a steep learning curve, fun and frantic at times. We’re now moving into the final week and have learnt a lot! It’s about building an audience as much as raising the funds. Reaching out and raising awareness. Listening too.

There’s still time to be part of this very special film. Find out how you can be involved by visiting our donate page

Addicted to Sheep feature film

Posted on October 14th, by admin in Our blogs. No Comments

We’ve been very busy co-producing our first indie feature length documentary and are now starting to let people know a little bit more about it while we are in post-production.

Directed and filmed by one of our film directors Magali Pettier, it’s been a labour of love and the rest of the team has gradually become hooked, as the title suggests. It’s a beautifully shot, heart warming film that allows you to view a world you don’t normally get to see up close.

Addicted to Sheep is an intimate portrait of a year in the life of a tenant farming family who live 1300 feet above sea level in Upper Teesdale. Nothing about their lives seems easy, but with passion and dedication Tom, Kay and their 3 young children (Jack, Esme and Hetty) aspire to succeed in this beautiful, but also harsh … Read More »
